An ambush means an enemy group has appeared ahead of a cargo flight in an insecure region. Defend the flight or continue only if you accept the cargo and aircraft risk.

Damage while carrying cargo reduces its delivered value. A shoot-down drops crates at the crash site, where they can often be recovered unless destroyed. An ambush with no enemy killed while the target survives costs the region Security.

Clear enemy ground groups in the region to raise Security, escort player or AI cargo flights, and supply any unrest Settlement that is adding its temporary Security penalty. AI transports defend themselves and use flares but keep flying rather than pursuing attackers.
