Airfields
An airfield is a DCS map airfield marked with a Tycoon tent. It neither produces nor consumes cargo. Players use it to store cargo of every kind and to build two airfield Projects. Airplanes can land there, so it is where the C-130J-30 hands cargo over to helicopters.
Delivery
An airfield accepts every cargo, Food and raw cargo included. Unload anywhere within 500 m of the Tycoon tent: your aircraft's position counts, not where the crates come to rest.
On the ground, crates are placed behind your aircraft, both when you unload and when you take cargo out of Storage. Further than 500 m from the tent, a Storage request is refused.
Storage
All cargo at an airfield shares one storage limit:
| Cargo Warehouse | Storage limit |
|---|---|
| none | 8 crates |
| Level 1 | 16 crates |
| Level 2 | 24 crates |
- Full storage: further deliveries are refused. The crate stays on the ground (see Restarts).
- Taking cargo out:
Tycoon > My Location > Storagereturns stored cargo as ordinary crates and frees their place at once. The menu shows the fill level asStored x/y. - Food stored at an airfield supplies no Settlement until it is flown on.
- Round trips: a crate taken out and unloaded at the same airfield again does not count as a delivery.
Build Sites
An airfield has two build sites with no Trust, supply or level requirement. Projects are paid from its storage, so without a Cargo Warehouse a level costing 8 crates needs an otherwise empty storage.
| Project | Levels | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Direction-Finding station | 3 | Detects enemy activity and narrows rumor sectors, see Enemy Detection. |
| Cargo Warehouse | 2 | Raises the storage limit to 16 / 24 crates. |
Costs are listed under Projects.
Airplanes
The C-130J-30 carries up to 24 crates but cannot land on a helipad. It takes crates out of Storage within 100 m of a Source or Factory pad and unloads them into an airfield's storage. Helicopters fly the last leg, because Hubs, Cities and Factories only accept deliveries from an aircraft on their pad.
